Igoh Ogbu linked to English clubs

Slavia Prague manager Jindřich Trpišovský has not dismissed the possibility of Nigerian international Igoh Ogbu leaving the club during the summer transfer window, even though the defender recently signed a contract extension. Ogbu, who made his Super Eagles debut in London shortly after renewing his deal, is now tied to Slavia Prague until the end of 2027. His consistent and impressive performances since arriving from Lillestrom earned him this new contract.

Prior to the extension, several top-tier clubs had already shown interest in Ogbu. Notably, teams from France’s Ligue 1 and Turkish champions Galatasaray were actively pursuing the centre-back. Despite securing his services with a long-term agreement, Slavia Prague remains realistic about the fluid nature of the transfer market. Trpišovský acknowledged that Ogbu’s future at the club is not entirely guaranteed and could change swiftly under the right circumstances.

In a recent appearance on the TIKI-TAKA show, Trpišovský emphasized the unpredictable nature of transfers. He explained that while Ogbu is committed to staying and competing in the Champions League with Slavia Prague, interest from prominent clubs like Nottingham Forest or Newcastle United could prompt an unexpected departure. Ogbu’s value to the team is underscored by his European experience—19 appearances across UEFA competitions—which will be crucial as Slavia Prague prepares for another Champions League campaign after clinching the Czech title early.
