Two former Mavlon FC players, now pursuing professional careers abroad, have secured spots in the final 20-man squad for the WAFU B U20 AFCON qualifying tournament set to take place in Togo.
Striker Charles Agada, who has signed a pre-contract with English Championship club Queens Park Rangers (QPR), and towering central midfielder Israel Ayuma, currently playing for Croatian side NK Istra, have been named in the squad.
The rest of the team is largely made up of players from Nigeria’s NPFL clubs, along with a few academy products. Notably, Coach Aliyu Zubairu has selected three players from his NPFL side, El Kanemi Warriors—defender Adamu Maigari and midfielders Nasiru Salihu and Suleyman Alabi.
A late change saw Niger Tornadoes midfielder Muhamad Ibrahim Sabiu included after Daniel Daga was dropped due to issues with his international passport.
The 20-man squad features two goalkeepers, five defenders, seven midfielders, and six forwards.
The Flying Eagles, who are the defending champions at this level, are set to depart for Togo tomorrow. They will begin their title defense on Friday, October 18, with their opening match against Burkina Faso in Lomé, Togo.
