Nigeria’s sole representatives in international football this year, Enyimba FC, have been drawn into a challenging group for the CAF Confederation Cup’s first round. The group includes Egypt’s Zamalek, the reigning CAF Confederation Cup champions, making them formidable opponents for the Nigerian side. Another Egyptian team, Al Masry, and Black Bulls of Mozambique also make up Group D.
Enyimba will need to navigate this tough competition to progress, as only the top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinal stage of the annual CAF competition. Notably, no Nigerian club has ever won this prestigious tournament, adding extra pressure for the Aba-based side as they strive to break that trend.
