The Flamingos, under the guidance of head coach Bankole Olowookere, have announced their final squad for this year’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, which will take place in the Dominican Republic. Among the selected players is prolific striker Harmony Chidi, the top scorer for Nigeria during the qualifying rounds. Chidi, who plays for Imo Strikers, netted an impressive 13 goals, contributing significantly to the team’s remarkable total of 25 goals in the qualifiers. The Flamingos dominated their continental campaign, securing victories against Central African Republic, Burkina Faso, and Liberia.
Midfielder Taiwo Afolabi, who represented Nigeria at the previous World Cup, has been named captain of the squad for this tournament.
The team is set to depart from Abuja on Tuesday night for a two-week training camp in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, to finalize their preparations for the tournament.
